"guns, oil and drugs in Nigeria is Goverment bussiness"
What began through unchecked sectarian violence has graduated into a full blown virus gradually eating through the very fabrics that hold the nation together. Though since its official formation as a group in 2004, nothing completely extreme was heard from the group until 2009 when the boko haram sect took responsibility for series of violent clashes in Bauchi which led to the death of an unconfirmed number of people.
More recently the boldness of the sect has extended to suicide bombing as the Police Headquarters in Abuja can testify to.
As always, more questions have been generated by these acts of violence than answers have been provided. Boko haram, an ideology as opposed to western education??? in this 21st century???.
If at any point in time that indeed was the ideology of this sect, it surely has changed with the use of sophisticated weapons, website publications and a gradually more modern approach to executing acts of violence. Which brings us to the question of what is boko haram?, and what do they hope to achieve from all this?.
Firstly a look at some facts -
The boko haram has no known organizational structure.
The goals and objectives of the boko haram have never been fully outlined by the sect.
The boko haram sect has taken responsibility for a number of repeated bombing around the country most recently.
A good number of the boko haram members are recruited insurgents from neighboring chad.
The bombing that took place at the Police Headquarters only further expose the rot and decay which has continued to plague the security outfits as other arms and sectors of the Goverment and individual citizens are not left out of the ripple effect.
With an operational budget of about 216billion Naira, the sophistication of the Nigerian police fell game to the under-sophistication of such a group as boko haram. Its easy to point fingers and lay blames on what should and could have been done, but with the deed being done, a way out is the next best step. With a thousand and one options of fishing out these culprits who have chosen not to respect the sacrosanct gift of life, its amazing that nothing has been done so far other than give speeches and condolences to families of the dead.
Its about time faith be restored the hearts of tax paying, God fearing and peace loving citizens of this country. If indeed this next four years will be full of goodluck or all about Gods justice and blessings, time alone will tell.
