DIMEJI BANKOLE ARRESTED

"nothing ever is the way it seems"

The arrest of the former speaker of the house of representatives Mr Dimeji Bankole is but drop of water in the ocean of corruption in high places. Its interesting to note that Mr Femi Babafemi, the EFCC spokesman said "an intelligence report showed that the former speaker was planning to leave Abuja for Lagos on Sunday evening and thereafter flee the country through an illegal route" ( how come the EFCC intelligence gathering has not been able to come up with more?). Considering the duration of time the EFCC has had to investigate allegations of corruption against the former speaker (over a year now) it is sad that at the time of his arrest, nothing tangible has been mentioned outside the obvious which the general public hasn't read about in the papers.
The word investigation has its word history
from Latin investigatio "a searching into", from investigatus, the past participle of investigare, itself from in- "in(to)" + vestigare "to track, trace"
Modern dictionary defines investigate as -n to carry out a detailed examination or inquiry, especially officially, in order to find out about something or somebody. Encarta®
or to observe into in detail. to examine systematically.

Following this definitions, its easy to see that the EFCC has done nothing but waste tangible time, and hard earned resources and come up with nothing, for this the commission too should be investigated. Crime is crime right from the inception of the thought process even before the main act or further more, days, weeks and months after such crime has been committed.
The EFCC should make use of their resources and run investigations in a manner worth the training the commission spends money training its personnel. With detailed evidence gathered during the period of such investigation the only missing link will be the culprit. Once the pieces are put together, denial would be scientifically impossible.

Its also sad to note how efficient the EFCC seem to be when it comes to intelligence gathering about money matters as compared to other security outfits who half the time come out scratching their heads in absolute wonder when hideous crimes are committed even within their jurisdiction

As for Mr Bankole if found guilty, not to worry. He should take solace from the experience of the "Lagos boy"
